We meet every Tuesday during Focus Time to watch episodes of different anime episodes and/or sections of anime movies. Our goal is to provide a safe space for students who love anime, and to introduce other students to a fun new entertainment form.

Looking for a fun atmosphere to join some friends and explore being an artist. Join art club where we welcome all artists regardless of level. We engage in various arts for example painting, drawings, photos, music and more. Bring art back to the students.

Overview

This group meets twice a week and is a low-key hang-out for anyone who wants to play games and meet new friends. The students who started this group have taken the lead and enjoy inviting new people to attend.

Overview

Students of all grades who have an interest in playing chess are invited to be part of the chess club. No particular skill level required. The club meets after school once a week with members attending as often as they are able.

Overview

The Drumline at GRCHS is open to all students (including non-music students). This is a high-energy performance ensemble, which provides entertainment at GRCHS home football games and other select school events. Students learn how to play and march with the snare, tenor, and bass drums with proper timing and technique.

Oveview

This student group plans events that promote inclusion and acceptance of those who are different from you. While planning events and activities that promote inclusion, students build meaningful relationships. This group helps students build relationships between students with unique learning needs and their peers. The group will also help plan events for our Special Olympics Unified Basketball Team. This group meets twice a month.

Overview

Eagle Links is a social activity group that encourages interaction and relationship building between students experiencing unique learning needs with typical-learning peers. Activities include recreation and leisure activities inside and outside of school along with "Helping Others Together" craft projects focused on making contribution to community organizations.

Promote sporting events that students can attend as a large community to support each other and develop relationships and positive school spirit. The opportunity to celebrate gifts and talents and provide relationship building opportunities amongst students.

Overview

Each fall we welcome Guatemalan students to campus through the Faces and Our Cultures Program. These young participants spend nearly two months living with a host family while attending classes and participating in extracurricular activities at school.The program has led to wonderful friendships and has provided our students and our Guatemalan guests with valuable cultural experiences. Students from our school have the opportunity for a true exchange in Guatemala during the summer. Students may choose either a two-week, three-week or four-week exchange. They have the opportunity to live with a host family, attend a private school in Guatemala, participate in social activities, and attend athletic events. This program is also part of our June term, so credit is available.

Overview

Students interested in developing, refining, and testing their public speaking and acting skills are offered the opportunity to be involved in the forensics program. The forensics team begins practice in January and competes against other schools January-April.

Overview

Through the German American Partnership Program, German students from our partner school in Hamburg, the Johannes-Brahms Gymnasium, spend four weeks in Grand Rapids (one of those in Chicago) in the fall (usually October). The following June, GRCHS students who have hosted here and who take German return the visit, staying in the home of the student he/she hosted in GR. GRCHS students also stay for four weeks (one week in Berlin). The exchange gives students from both sides the opportunity to see how everyday life goes in both home and school while leaving time for some sight-seeing as well. There is the opportunity to improve one's language abilities in ways that cannot be replicated in the classroom. The host family stay often broadens the friendships that are formed beyond just the exchange partners to the parents and siblings.

GIDAS (guide-us) stands for Genes in Diseases and Symptoms and is a branch of a bigger organization called miRcore. The goal of GIDAS is to bring high-level computational biology research to high school students. Due to close partnership with the University of Michigan, you may also have the opportunity to participate in the Gene & Health Contest later in the school year.

The GRCHS Global Ambassador club is a service-leadership club with meetings and social activities that aims to have an impact on the entire school community by broadening global perspectives, developing cultural understandings, and creating a passion for God’s people. This program mission supports that of our larger school mission of “equipping students to be effective servants of Christ in contemporary society.”

Overview

We are a diverse group of students and staff who wish to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ through song. Any one (staff and students) may join. No prior musical experience is necessary — we only ask for your commitment and enthusiasm.  We are looking for musicians to accompany us (keyboard, drums, guitar).  We meet once or twice a week for practice (one day during lunch and Office Hours, and one day during Focus). The choir performs from time-to-time in Chapel, and we hope to have at least one concert for parents and friends to attend.

Students meet Monday nights from 6:00 pm — 8:00 pm at school to develop and practice their improvisational acting skills. The team learns fast-paced, short-form improvisational comedy and performs two public shows during the school year.  This is a “try out” group, but students from all grades are invited to the tryouts in the fall.

Overview

National Honor Society (NHS) was established in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. Juniors and seniors at GRCHS who have a GPA of 3.7 and above and have interest in serving the school community are strong candidates for membership. NHS consists of a student-lead executive board that plans monthly meetings. Members of the general body participate in service opportunities and activities within the school community. Overview

Students may apply to become Peer Listeners. Students accepted into the program receive special training and refresher course work during each school year. The program is supervised by staff and is open to juniors and seniors. Peer Listeners are a group of students who serve our campus in a variety of ways. They welcome new students, they provide support for students during difficult times, and they are available to listen in confidentiality to students who are struggling.

IIf you enjoy playing table tennis, please join our club any week that you are available. This is a great way to meet new friends in a fun atmosphere while playing a little ping pong. We meet 1x/week after school and welcome all players and levels.

Overview

The Vex Robotics club at Grand Rapids Christian High School is about building, programing and driving remote controlled robots. The club provides an engaging and fun student experience that enables individuals to reach their full potential in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, while they develop the knowledge and skills vital to success in the 21st Century. There is a new challenge each year. Students start building their robot at the beginning of the school year. Starting in October there are matches against other schools.

This is a student-led club where the kids get together in groups and play table-top role-playing games (Dungeons and Dragons, there's a Marvel RPG (role playing game), FATE is another format). The kids, through these games, work on creative problem-solving and improvising, all through the "saving the world from evil" lens.

Each year four seniors are selected to attend Grand Rapids Rotary Club as student members. They are selected on the basis of their academic standing, their leadership within the student body, and their volunteer services.

The GRCHS Eagle Student Ambassadors serve as representatives for Grand Rapids Christian High School. They serve in a variety of ways including hosting new and visiting students, leading family & student tours, hosting college representatives and volunteering at school events.

Overview

The GRCHS Student Congress partners with administration, faculty, and staff to make GRCHS a school community that thrives. The Student Congress shall be made up of roughly 30 students serving on five branches, plus an executive branch (elected by the congress). The branches are responsible to lead in their designated area, but all branches must work together for the good of the school. Each branch will have one or two faculty sponsors and an administrative liaison.  The Student Congress meets regularly (even in the summer) to plan its work.

Overview

Each year students have the opportunity to try out for parts in the theatrical production. Auditions are open to the entire student body. Besides being actors, students are able to participate in a wide range of related crews and committees, which are essential to the production including student directing, makeup, lighting, set/props collection and construction.

Open to all students at Grand Rapids Christian High, this group meets together for Christian fellowship and faith enrichment. Young Life provides students an opportunity to share their faith with one another, talk over issues or concerns, and develop special bonds of friendship through the group’s various social activities.

YCC is committed to cultivating a culturally inclusive environment where diverse thoughts and expressions are valued and appreciated--no matter a student's race, socioeconomic status, political party, or other defining features. We want to provide all students the opportunity to educate each other and learn about current events, politics, and culture in a way that unites our school and local community. In the past we have hosted a dance and donated the proceeds to a local charity, partnered with the Refugee Education Center for Coin Wars, and registered seniors to vote.
