Spiritual Life at GRCS
The Spiritual Life Office (SLO) was created to support the efforts of Grand Rapids Christian Schools to encourage our students in their spiritual journey. We view spiritual formation from an educational and a personal perspective, taking seriously the questions and process of spiritual growth. We are rooted in the Reformed perspective and believe that spirituality is not the business of one office but held collectively by all the staff and administration. At the same time, the Spiritual Life Office creates and supports programs that encourage the formation of our students.
The SLO is held by Mark Kuiper. He works to create meaningful chapels, learning-service projects, retreats, and student orientation programs that encourage spiritual formation. In addition, he works closely with the Curriculum Advisor, the Bible and Theology Department, and the staff, lending a supportive role in their respective Spiritual Formation efforts. The SLO is also supported by a Spiritual Formation Advisory Committee consisting of administration, community members and staff that helps speak into vision and goals.
