Solution Tree Professional Learning Community Institute, hosted at GRCHS for all K-12 teachers
District-wide Professional Development (PD) during which staff from across the district presented table-talks to one another
PD Pathways, a self-guided learning experience for staff

Simon

Simon’s journey at Grand Rapids Christian began at Rockford Christian, where Mr. Warners encouraged him to embrace God’s creation through running. He also helped Simon build connections across the district, shaping his high school experience. Inspired to give back, Simon spent four years coaching RCS track, mentoring younger athletes in the GRCS community. His own path was shaped by teachers and mentors who invested in him—now, he’s doing the same for others. As he heads to High Point University to run track and study business, he carries forward a legacy of faith and purpose.

Hannah

Hannah

Hannah’s journey began at Iroquois in kindergarten, where teachers like Mrs. Minnema nurtured her love for learning. That foundation only grew stronger through middle and high school, shaped by mentors who inspired her. Mr. Greidanus sparked her passion for teaching, while AP Euro with Mrs. Polet deepened her love for history. Forensics and orchestra at GRCHS helped her grow in confidence, preparing her to engage with the world. Now part of a local organization focused on providing grants to nonprofits, Hannah is already making an impact. As she looks ahead to college, she’s grateful for the community that shaped her path.

Jose

Jose

When Jose moved to the U.S. from Venezuela in eighth grade, he wasn’t sure what to expect. Encouraged by Mr. VanderKamp, his family chose GRCHS—and found a transformational community. Open gym opportunities helped him make close friends, while track gave him a sense of belonging. Teachers like Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Rozema guided his academic growth, and Winterim’s translating class inspired his desire to help others. While experiencing struggles with his faith, the GRCHS community supported him to trust God in ways he never imagined. Now, he hopes to use his experiences to help others find community as well.
